Hong Kong, the sun has finally come out again, which is why you have no excuse to not get your brunch on for this week’s second long weekend (2-4 April). To celebrate the arrival of spring, some of Hong Kong’s most trendy restaurants have launched new weekend brunches so you can make the most of your weekends with some daytime drinking and dining.

Sexy Korean fare at Jinjuu

Making Lan Kwai Fong relevant again is new modern Korean restaurant Jinjuu helmed by celebrity chef Judy Joo. They have recently launched their weekend brunch where you can enjoy just the semi-buffet or the whole nine yards with a main course and dessert to finish off too. Believe us when we say, the buffet alone will more than satisfy your cravings with everything from salads and juicy fried chicken (breasts, thighs and wings) to a ‘make your own’ bibimbap station. There’s also a soup of the day, plenty of seafood, bagels and spicy tuna tartare.

If you are spoiling yourself with a main course, we recommend their signature Kalbi Jjim USDA short rib, miso-glazed salmon or the grilled seasonal vegetables served with tempura shimeji mushrooms and yuja aioli.

When: Saturdays and Sundays from 12pm to 3pm

Sky high views at CÉ LA VI

Perched on top of California Tower, CÉ LA VI has recently launched its DJ-led Sunday brunch affair. The brunch can be ordered a la carte or as a selection of dishes to share. Brunch specials include Eggs Benedict with cured salmon, brioche and shichimi hollandaise, udon with bacon dashi, kamaboko and poached egg, scrambled eggs with tofu, spring onion and mature cheddar and Loco Moco pork belly with pan-fried eggs and fried rice.

You can also choose from one of their signature mains including a cauliflower steak or portobello mushroom with vegetable Sichuan jus and fried rice or yakisoba for vegetarians, Misoyaki black cod, chicken and pork katsu and New Zealand lamb chops with Hokkaido rice and broccollini. This is then followed by award-winning pastry chef Jason Licker’s trio of desserts: Matcha Tart with Valrhona 64 percent chocolate ice cream, White Chocolate Junmai and Hong Kong Cappuccino (passionfruit cream, crumble, sweet milk tea gelato and whiskey foam).

When: Sundays from 12pm to 3pm

A lively Portuguese buffet at Casa Lisboa

Hotel LKF’s Portuguese restaurant has livened things up with a brand new all-you-can-eat  family-style brunch buffet. On arrival, you’ll get a selection of treats to share including two seasonal oysters in Portuguese dressing per person, sauteed clams with garlic, lemon and coriander and flaming chouriço sausage grilled at the table.

The buffet starts with traditional Portuguese appetisers such as chouriço and spinach quiche, Portuguese ham, smoked salmon and palm heart with pesto dressing. For mains, there’s unlimited servings of their classic whole roasted suckling pig, an aromatic old-style duck rice, flaming grilled Piri Piri chicken, clams with potato and coriander as well as a choice of seasonal roast dishes.

When: Saturdays and public holidays from 12pm to 3pm

Spanish bites at FoFo by el Willy

Do brunch as the Spanish do at Fofo by el Willy’s brand new semi-buffet brunch. Enjoy as much of the Serrano ham, Manchego cheese, smoked salmon, olives, king fish tiradito, scallop ceviche, steak tartare, crab salad and other delicacies from the buffet before enjoying a selection of hot tapas such as Padron peppers and Iberico ham to share. You’ll then get to choose from five mains including seafood paella, eggs with Spanish sausage and Iberico ham and their signature seafood tower (for at least two) of lobster, king crab legs, mussels with marinara sauce, king prawns with garlic and chilli, roasted vegetables, lobster linguini and pan-fried sea bass for an additional HK$98 per person.

FoFo will then spoil you with a mixed dessert platter of some of their most popular desserts before you head up for a few cheeky post-brunch drinks on their gorgeous rooftop.

A weekend boogie at Tartine

Kick back with some retro vibes at Tartine’s new Boogie Brunch launched in collaboration with Art de Vivre Agency. The menu will feature French, brunch-appropriate classics such as truffled eggs and smoked salmon on sourdough, french toast with berries and maple syrup and Eggs Benedict. There will also be some of the best DJs in town on the decks and a selection of cocktails including their signature mojito that you can pair with your meal as you party the afternoon away.

Classic favourites at Mr & Mrs Fox

Quarry bay’s neighbourhood restaurant and bar, Mr & Mrs Fox has just started serving its weekend brunch featuring dry-aged steaks and classic dishes such as Spanish omelettes and scrambled eggs and truffle in a buttery brioche bun.

The brunch is served as a set menu and starts off with a warm biscuit served with jam, fruit and yoghurt followed by a second course with choices such as short rib Eggs Benedict, pastrami Croque Madame, Quiche Lorraine with arugula salad, Black Angus BBQ cheddar burger, pandan waffle and Cast Iron roasted pancakes. To finish, you’ll also get to choose from a selection of sweet treats including Baked Alaska and buttermilk egg soufflé with maple syrup and bacon.

All-you-can-eat roast at Flying Pig Bistro

Sometimes all you need is a good roast to get you through the weekend, which is why we’re in love with Flying Pig Bistro’s new Sunday brunch. For just HK$188 you can enjoy an all-you-can-eat roast buffet with free-flow house wine, house spirits, cheese, coleslaw and fries for two hours. Other weekend brunch specials include a four eggs omelette (HK$98) with your choice of filling (ham, cheese, tomato, asparagus, bacon, mushrooms, smoked salmon), quinoa muesli with soya yoghurt and fresh fruit (HK$95), blueberry pancakes (HK$95) and a Flying Pig big breakfast (HK$118) with bacon, eggs any style, sausage, hash browns, baked beans, tomato and roast potatoes.

Home to one of the most popular champagne brunches in Hong Kong, KITCHEN at W Hong Kong are offering a new limited brunch experience from March to April with Switzerland skincare brand, SUR PUR who use caviar as one of their key active ingredients. The brunch will feature all-you-can-eat oysters, Boston lobsters, egg dishes and other hot plates to share with the addition of caviar to the line-up. Each guest will also leave with a box of 30 gram premium caviar and a luxurious caviar skincare gift pack.

Seasonal specials at La Crêperie

Hong Kong’s resident French crêperie has just introduced a new weekend brunch a la carte menu to celebrate spring. The menu will feature their signature galettes, salads, pastas and Crêpe as well as traditional Brittany clams cooked in apple cider sauce (HK$118) and a dozen Brittany oysters (HK$218). We can’t wait to try the lobster pasta (HK$138) with homemade tomato and fish stock sauce before indugling in their legendary salted butter caramel crêpe to finish.

The Optimist – Rodaballo a la brasa

Looking for a place to cure that hangover? The Optimist is the place to go with their Spanish-style Sunday brunch and free-flow sangria and prosecco. The feast starts off with a buffet filled to the brim with market pintxos, cheese, salads, cold soups and Spanish ham as well as a selection of hot tapas brought to your table.

For the mains, you can choose dishes from the grill such as whole charcoal grilled chicken or grilled vegetable skewers. Other highlights include the seafood rice with mussels, clams, blue prawn and squid and the whole seabass ‘Espalda’ with garlic dressing for two (an additional HK$65 per person). To finish on a sweet note, a selection of rotational desserts will then be brought out. These will include warm apple pie with vanilla sauce, strawberry cheesecake and chocolate brownies topped with hot chocolate fudge, walnuts and vanilla ice cream.

When: Sundays and public holidays from 11:30am to 3pm

How much: HK$348 per person and an additional HK$180 for a free-flow package of sangria punch, prosecco and wine.
