A boutique luxury resort that belongs to the AKARYN Hotel Group, Aleenta Hua Hin Resort & Spa is set on the golden sands of Pak Nam Pran Beach. The award-winning resort recently underwent a modern makeover, updating the design to include both contemporary and Thai elements. With only 22 guest rooms, Aleenta Hua Hin is a highly secluded hideaway that’s perfect for those looking into romantic escapes and honeymoon destinations. While the Frangipani Wing is kids’ friendly, all guest rooms and suites in the main wing are not, making this an ideal retreat for couples who seek for exclusivity.
This post: Checking in: Aleenta Hua Hin Resort & Spa
Situated just a couple of hundred kilometres south of Bangkok, and 30 minutes from the town of Hua Hin, Pak Nam Pran Beach is a rare jewel, a lovely, isolated beach with golden sands that stretch on for miles. Easily reached from Bangkok via a three-hour drive on the highway along Hua Hin, Aleenta Hua Hin is actually located within the Pranburi district, a quiet suburb that is lesser-known to tourists. It may not be as exotic as some other destinations, but it hasn’t been ruined by tourism, either.
At Aleenta Hua Hin, the one-bedroom Pool Residence comes with a private plunge pool, and faces the calm waters of the Gulf of Thailand. Steps away from the powdery sands, the 200-square-metre, thatched-roofed suite offers understated barefoot luxury with stunning sea views. Here, you can slip into comfortable pajamas and bathrobes made with natural cotton, and wake up in a plush king-size bed dressed in the soft, 400-thread pure Egyptian cotton sheets. Aside from your own outdoor pool, you get to start the day with a relaxing cascading rain shower replete with organic bath and shower gels. We loved the natural toiletries, which are exclusively designed for Aleenta and made with local essential oils. The relaxing retreat is also outfitted with modern technology and contemporary comforts such as an iPod touch and iDock stocked with a collection of soothing sounds. Note, as this room type is located within the main wing, the Pool Residence is reserved for guests above age 12.
Drinks & Dining
Combining a bounty of local organic ingredients with culinary expertise, the talented chefs at Aleenta Restaurant serves up a mouthwatering collection of Thai and international flavours. Set al fresco by the beach, the restaurant offers fresh takes on Thai dishes that are grounded in centuries of tradition. Aside from Thai cuisine, the restaurant also features international favourites with an innovative twist. For instance, their breakfast menu includes Aleenta Madam, which uses pineapple to cut the heftiness of roasted ham, poached egg, and béchamel cheese. For those who like to keep breakfast simple, we highly recommend you try their freshly baked croissants and cold-pressed juices in the morning. And at night, we suggest you enjoy an intimate candlelit setting along the beach and dine with the balmy breeze in your hair.
Health & Wellness
Ayurah Spa Hua Hin specialises in healing and deeply rejuvenating therapies using local, organic ingredients. The indulgent treatment menu includes a nourishing honey and milk bath, Ayurvedic rituals, aromatherapy massage and spice scrubs that will have you glowing from within. We tried the back-relief massage, which is designed to ease muscle tension and soothe away stiffness in the back. Using palm strokes, the certified therapist helps loosen any knotted muscles, as well as applying thumb pressure to meridian lines on the back to relieve tension.
You can also take advantage of the fitness centre and two main swimming pools. We particularly liked the infinity plunge pool in the main wing, as it’s elevated on the third floor and has stunning ocean views. Go ahead and order an ice-cold cocktail while you luxuriate in cool waters. Or better yet, enjoy a scoop of handcrafted ice cream that they make at Aleenta Restaurant.
Gracefully situated by the golden-sand beach, Aleenta Hua Hin Resort & Spa combines cool, lilac tones from nearby waters and polished teak in a harmonious design that humbly invites you into the landscape. The interiors are sophisticated but understated, with design elements including terracotta tiles fired at a local kiln and thatched-roof residences. Although islands up north can offer more dramatic views and other recreational activities, Aleenta Hua Hin wins in terms of a secluded escape. If you’re looking to share intimate moments with your loved one, this resort is a great option.
