Karl Lagerfeld and Faber-Castell launch the Karlbox collection of artist tools

Calling all artists – you can now own a complete set of limited edition artists’ supplies called the Karlbox. This wondrous box of 350 art tools is a special collaboration between Faber-Castell and Karl Lagerfeld, and there are only 2,500 sets available worldwide. The sleek, wooden-framed, black lacquer box designed by Karl Lagerfeld features impeccable craftsmanship and is reminiscent of a Chinese wedding cabinet with its multiple drawers. Each removable drawer holds the art supplies, all sorted by shades of colour personally selected by Lagerfeld himself. The design and layout of this box and its contents are a symbol of the synergy between fashion, art and design.

Faber-Castell products have been part of Lagerfeld’s iconic career, with the designer using them to write, draw and design. “Since I was a child in Germany, Faber-Castell has been the most famous brand, known for its especially good quality,” said Lagerfeld. “That reputation remains just as true today, particularly for artist pencils.”

The shades of colour are sorted by primary and secondary colours, ranging from soft pastels to vibrant and intense pigmentations. Karl Lagerfeld’s own favourite product line is the Albrecht Dürer artist range of watersoluble colour pencils, of which all 120 shades are included in the Karlbox.
