New eats: Arthur’s Bar & Grill, Serena Brasserie and PRIME

With all the meat we’ve been having, it’s a wonder how we’re not all steaked out yet.

Shangri la kl prime rib
The Prime rib is a sight to behold with a portion that may seem a little intimidating for one person.

The Dish: As lovers of beef, we were delighted to say the least when this dish was served. The meat was incredibly melt-in-your-mouth tender with a beautiful marriage of flavours between the meat and the fat. Juicy, comforting and delicious, this is one dish we’ll definitely be coming back for more of. You can also choose how you want the sides of vegetables and potatoes to be, for your perfect steak experience.

The Place: Arthur’s Bar & Grill is located on level 1 of Shangri-la Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. The space is inviting, with cosy corners or optional bar seats. There is also an area by the windows which has bountiful natural daylight that’s great for taking all your Instagram photos of the good food.

Price: RM115

Sunday Bubbly Brunch by Serena Brasserie

InterContinental bubbly brunch
Serena Brasserie’s Sunday Bubbly Brunch is available on the last Sunday of every month until November 2016 only.

The Brunch: Champagne lovers rejoice! There’s another bubbly brunch in town and it’s at Serena Brasserie. The restaurant serves up elegant Laurent-Perrier champagnes with the option of turning your drink into a mimosa with freshly-squeezed juice choices of orange, wild berries, lychee, peach and strawberries. We enjoyed the strawberry mimosa more than orange, while the Champagne by itself was a delight too. Food-wise, the bubbly brunch features fresh seafood on ice, a Sunday grill that changes every time (we got to try the Beef Wellington, which had a perfect puff pastry and meat cooked to a perfect medium), a pasta and risotto station (the mushroom risotto was creamy with a nice mushroom flavour that we’d love to have more of) besides dessert like ice-cream and various cakes.

The Place: Serena Brasserie is on the Lobby level of InterContinental Kuala Lumpur Hotel. The restaurant is bright and airy with floor-to-ceiling glass windows that allow in ample natural daylight. We like how the seats are comfortably spaced so walking in between tables is not a problem.

Tomahawk Wagyu cut by PRIME

With an intense Marbling score of nine, the meat is tender and juicy with a great flavour.

The Dish: Truly a sight to behold, we were almost speechless when this came out of the kitchen and made it’s way towards our table.  You can choose to have the servers slice it up, otherwise feel free to dig in as you wish. Tender and luxuriously marbled with great flavour, we’ll be back for more of this.

The Place: PRIME is on Level five of Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur. The space is refined with cosy nooks for an intimate meal, and a private dining room for 10 persons that has a view of the open kitchen.
