The general consensus is that if something is named after a dinosaur, it’s going to be awesome. Thanks to Texan tuning outfit Hennessey Performance, Ford’s Raptor has just levelled up to become a supertruck called the VelociRaptor 6×6, and it looks like a force to be reckoned with.

Based on the latest four-door Raptor version of the Ford F-150 pickup truck, Hennessey Performance made the beastly vehicle an even bigger monster by rebuilding the bed to accommodate an extra pair of rear wheels. This is besides a host of other upgraded features such as 6×6 locking rear axles, Baja-spec Fox suspension, 20-inch wheels and chunky off-road tires. Then there’s the new, souped-up rollbar, blinding LED lights and get-out-of-my-way front and rear bumpers.

However, it wouldn’t be worthy of the Hennessey badge unless there are some serious under-the-hood tinkering to match the external upgrades. For a little price of USD22,500 (SGD31,000), you’ll get a 600-plus horsepower twin turbo upgrade. The package will see the supertruck receive twin turbochargers, stainless steel exhaust modifications and a reprogrammed engine management system. We hear Hennessey would also be offering an armoured version. This is a truck you’ll fervently avoid confronting on the roads.

While it doesn’t look quite as sophisticated as the G63 AMG 6×6 rival from Mercedes, this beefy Raptor is considerably cheaper at USD295,000 (SGD406,000) than the G63’s USD455,000 (SGD627,000).
