three super unique ways to use glitter in makeup

It isn’t fall until you swipe some glitter on your face and call it a day. Fall – Winter 2018 trends have circled back to glitter slash shimmer time and again – right from the subtle work of Pat McGrath to Val Garland who at Giambattista Valli made sure glitter was dusted on the models’ entire faces and necks. And not just any glitter, the holographic kind. So it’s safe to say that shimmer got it’s due for years but we’re just now learning how to take this over-the-top interpretation and make it work for us on a daily basis. After all, the popularity of Kira Kira is reason enough to believe the beauty world’s current obsession with sparkle is here to stay.
Last week, we attended Cover Fx’s newest launch event that showcased some great new products – the Shimmer Veil eyeshadow with multidimensional shimmer in a weightless creme texture alongside the iconic Glitter Drops that will take glitter to the next level with colours like Lunar, Mirage and Aurora. The masterclass with Shahrul Nordin, Regional Head & Trainer at Coverfx gave us insights into a few good ways we can use this trend to create looks we can pull off this party season. Surprisingly wearable ones.

Glitter Shadows

This one’s the easiest and the best way to pull off a subtle or heavy party look in under a minute. Just use pigments that can be layered one on top of the other. Products like Shimmer Veil can be used alone or under a base colour to enhance the shade and give your eyes that woke-up-to-party look. Apply with a deft hand on your eyelids and swipe it up according to your requirement – raw swipes ensure a rock-n-roll meets refined vibe. If you hate OTT glitter, just dab on the inside corners of your eyes to give that sexy feel.

Highlight Happiness
2018 belonged to highlighters – from iridescent ones to plain gold pigments and it was festive all year long. This time, highlights are going to be more pronounced and more glittery; case in point the Aurora glitter drops from Cover fx that now give your cheeks the mermaid feels. Just dab your cheekbones with your usual blush and highlight them with shimmer pigments in blues and purples.

Lip Shimmer

Lips get a frosty makeover with shimmer that is not just subtle, but more pronounced. Frosty and metallic lipsticks have given way to DIY ideas – just dab shimmer on your lips that already have a matte lippie on. The crushed diamond pout as it’s called is easy to recreate – just get a lip glitter stick or use your own lipstick and dab some pigment on.

Three easy looks to add on:
- You could take leftover glitter from the Glitter Drops and run them through your hair for that slight sexy shimmer look.
- You can also dab a bit of shimmer on your collarbones to give your party look at three-dimensional look.
- You could use an illuminating face mist under your foundation to give your face a shimmery glow all night long.
